Your Creative Ideas
Here is a place to post some of your creative ideas, now that we are at the end of the course. You can suggest hands-on activities, recommend readings or movies or websites, or write about anything you like. These ideas can substitute for earlier Logs or furnish you with some extra credit.

Well I don’t have any suggestions on new ideas for creativity, but I can provide insight on a couple things we did that I liked and didn’t like. I really enjoyed all the different medias that we witnessed and discussed. From the Hearts of Darkness and Beatle songs, to watching Godde’s architecture I think it is important for a creativity class to focus on great works of art that has received positive criticism. I thought the exercises we did like coloring, meditating, and just switching to a creative state of mind were very valuable activities.
There was one glitch with the class that bothered me all semester, but this was only so because I was not expecting it. The course seemed to be aimed at using our right brain to process creativity. The way we were introduced to these skills was by a left brain lecture format. I understand that this is a part of being creative, balancing both sides of the brain, but I was not used to it. I understand that this class is geared to give us greater insight on the creative process which was truly fascinating and well taught.
So maybe for a suggestion the class could be more right brain driven. I feel that the grading scale might have been a little strict but I’ll get over it. There is one project that I think should be introduced to the class. It is the movie Revolver directed by Guy Richie. The movie is a creative breakthrough that explores the subconscious ego that controls our life. Being that this was one of the topics discussed in the course, I feel that maybe this movie should be a subject of the day or an extra credit project.
i really liked the course in that it did cover a broad range of creative learning’s and ideas. it is really unique for this school to have a program like this one and i think that it is really valuable to use to broaden or horizons. i really did like the times when your husband came in to teach i think they were really fun and he is a good lecturer!. i also liked when we covered creative process i think that it was a invaluable part of the class. some new ideas i think you might like to use for the class is instead of a research project have every one in the class pick a book by there favorite author and have them start at the beginning of the semester and towards the end submit a paper and do a small presentation on the book of there choice, this could include what the book meant to them and why the chose to read it. the only thing i would have liked to go over more in class would have been more on creative writers and not just ones from the US but from all over the world. i feel that it really important to read books from all over the world it really opens your eyes to other cultures!! over all i really enjoyed the course and feel that it was a worth while use of my time!
I LOVED many different things about this course! One of my favorite activities we were assigned was the creativity project. I felt that the freedom we had to think up our own project was a great way to get our creative motors working. However i think that next year you can allaberate more on this by assigning more than one project. for example you can have a group project where the class can pick groups to present a creative project. this will be easier for the people that need a little bit more help with their creative edge, and would help those naturally creative people guide the others. Then later on in the course you can asign a personal creative project where the individual would meditate on a project that was near and dear to them personally. this would help the creator get in touch with a more intamant part of creativity that few take time to acknowledge. also it may be interesting to look into specific creators work and, as a class, evalute their creative process….just some ideas.
I enjoyed this course very much. I believe that the best thing about it was the flexibility and overall open ended structure. I believe that you taught this class in a creative way by letting the student choose what we wanted to cover and how far into it we wanted to explore. I feel like I learned much more from this class than any other elective at CMA. I think that if you let the students choose what they want to learn, you are knocking two birds out with one stone. What I mean by this is you as a teacher are still getting information to us and we are also enjoying what we learn instead of being forced to learn or do things we don’t want to do.
As for suggestions to improve the course, I think there should be more hands on activities. I enjoyed exercising the right side of my brain when we did the upside down drawing and having free time to relax the mind and color with crayons. I also think that if you could fit more class projects outside, that would be great too. This course has been a great time and I hope you continue teaching it. YOKAY!
